Sesame Street
Museum Exhibit
Rochester, New York
The most charming
project I had the opportunity to be a part of has to be the exhibit on the thirty year
history of Sesame Street at The Strong Museum in Rochester, New York .
Strong Museum is a children's hands-on museum; youngsters have the chance to
actually see themselves, via multiple video cameras, on a representation of
the Children's Network set. |

Six exterior
columns were installed 4 years ago with vertical seams facing the entrance. Unfortunately, these seams were distracting and deteriorating. With the help
of fellow artist Christine Muratore from Chico, CA, I filled the seams with
new, durable, yet flexible, caulk and faux finished over these seams,
visually blending them in the rest of the column.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre
|
|
Hollywood, California
Restoration to Grauman's Chinese Theatre began in 2001 with
a $7 million dollar budget. Many diverse projects were my responsibility,
from repairs of the decorative cement archways on the facade, to repairing
marble Ming Dynasty Heaven Dogs in the forecourt. Also in the lobby, I repaired
the gold leafed ceiling which was water damaged in select areas and replaced
missing mural segments. On the exterior, I reconstructed the design and
color of the column friezes (22 panels) to the 1927 original.

Another Movie
Palace from 1928. The Hollywood Palace, formerly the Hollywood Playhouse,
then the El Capitan, now manages by Avalon from NY and Boston. Needing a new
look for a new owner, the exterior was brought back to it's original to
emphasis the beautiful Spanish Baroque facade. Inside a morrocan theme for
it's charming open air pation above the mezannine.

Hollywood, California
The
Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, first
opened its doors in 1930. It's now the newest home to
Disney's The Lion King. The Pantages received a 10 million
dollar renovation from January to September of 2000. Working predominantly on the
plaster team, I
learned how to repair and create new ornamentation through the use of molds
and sculpture. Also, I applied gold leaf,
painted and glazed the auditorium and lobbies to return the Pantages to its glory again

Hollywood, California
A 1921 gorgeous,
terra cotta, ornate building. As part
of a two member team, I lead the faux painting of this building while
casting and carving much of the missing elements of this facade. Over
sixty percent of the facade was damaged or missing and was recreated through
photos and surviving elements. The
building is part of Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment
National Register Historic District. |

Beverly
Hills, CA 2003
A
beautiful older home, 1940's, had it's plumbing redone, cutting thru the
living room wall to reach the pipe. I plastered the wall and repairs the
surrounding water damage to match the original.

Two sconces had
been repaired by welding that left burn marks on the surface marring their
beauty. I painted the spots to match the surround areas.

John Singer
Sargent Paintings
Reproducing the
Masters is a hobby of mine, Sargent is one of my favorite because of his
lush brush strokes. Madame X is still in progress, while the Lady with the
Yellow Rose is about finished. The Peacock window is a translucent
painting on canvas of Tiffany's window. It can be back lit for extra drama.
The leading is dimensional acrylic gel.

Marble Heaven Dogs
Hollywood, California
Actual marble Ming Dynasty Heaven Dogs
were in need of a face lift, literally. Located in the
theatre's famous outdoor forecourt
where stars have come to leave their hand and footprints. I repaired the
damaged Heaven Dogs using a mixture of marble epoxy glue and marble dust. |
